DAXXIFY Explained: Is This Long-Lasting Neuromodulator Right for You?

For more than 20 years, BOTOX® Cosmetic has been one of the most familiar names in wrinkle-reducing treatments. But today, patients have another option to consider: DAXXIFY®.

So, what exactly is DAXXIFY, and what makes it different?

What Is DAXXIFY?

DAXXIFY is a prescription injectable called a neuromodulator. Like other botulinum toxin type A products, it works by temporarily reducing the nerve signals that tell certain muscles to contract.

Think of it like turning down the volume on a muscle. When the treated muscle isn’t contracting as strongly, the wrinkles created by that repeated movement can appear softer.

What Makes DAXXIFY Different?

DAXXIFY™ works in a similar way to other neuromodulators, but its formulation sets it apart.

One of its distinguishing features is its peptide-based formulation. Peptides are short chains of amino acids, and DAXXIFY uses a proprietary peptide as part of its formulation. It is also formulated without human- or animal-derived components.

The formulation was designed to help support the activity of the treatment over time. In clinical studies, many patients continued to have noticeable improvement in their frown lines around six months after treatment. However, everyone’s results are different.

How Quickly Does DAXXIFY Work?

Another common question is, “When will I see results?”

Some patients in clinical studies noticed improvement as early as the day after treatment, with many seeing results within the first couple of days.

Your provider can explain what you should expect based on your treatment and individual needs.

Daxxify Before and After

What Is a DAXXIFY Treatment Like?

Your appointment begins with a consultation. Your provider will look at your facial movements, discuss what you’re hoping to achieve, review your medical history, and determine whether DAXXIFY is appropriate for you.

If you decide to move forward, the treatment involves a series of small injections into specific muscles.

The goal isn’t to make you look “frozen.” Instead, the goal is to reduce the muscle activity that contributes to unwanted lines while creating a refreshed, natural-looking appearance.

DAXXIFY vs. BOTOX: What’s the Difference?

This is one of the questions we hear most often.

DAXXIFY and BOTOX Cosmetic are both botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators, but they have different formulations and dosing systems, so their units cannot be compared one-to-one.

When choosing a neuromodulator, your provider may consider:

  • Your facial anatomy and muscle activity
  • The areas you want to treat
  • Your treatment history and aesthetic goals
  • Your medical history
  • How your skin and muscles respond to treatment

There’s no one-size-fits-all neuromodulator. DAXXIFY may appeal to patients looking for longer-lasting results and fewer maintenance appointments. It may also be an option for the small percentage of patients who have developed resistance to BOTOX.

Is DAXXIFY Right for You?

Choosing a treatment isn’t just about picking the newest product or the one that may last the longest. Your individual anatomy, goals, medical history, and previous treatment experience all matter.

That’s why we believe the best place to start is with a conversation.
